Botryonyx LLC is developing innovative waste handling solutions. Our core competencies are stranded gas capture and produced water treatment for oil and gas operators; and algae-based integrated waste treatment for municipal and industrial operators. Our mission is to help customers improve efficiency and recover sustainable value from waste. We aim to create value for our customers by identifying innovative technologies for waste management and developing turn-key service models that solve problems and reduce costs. We will achieve this vision by leveraging deep knowledge of customer needs and broad knowledge of technical solutions.
OIL AND GAS
Oil and gas operators require large amounts of water in the drilling, completion, and production phases of a well. Water injected into the well returns to the surface as flowback water. In addition, many wells yield produced water from the geological formation. The flowback and produced waters are contaminated with oils and salts upon return to the surface. Disposal of the waters or treatment for reuse are significant costs for well operators. At the same time, stranded gas from wells must be flared, wasting a potentially valuable product. We developed a new process to couple stranded gas capture and treatment of flowback and produced water. Our solution will help operators reduce or eliminate flaring and lower the cost of treating flowback and produced water.
Disposal of activated sludge, chemical waste, animal manure, and carbon emissions is a challenge for wastewater treatment plants, petroleum refiners, livestock farmers, and power plants, respectively. In the cases of activated sludge, chemical waste, and animal manure, disposal of these materials is often achieved by incineration or landfill, representing a direct cost. In the case of carbon emissions, disposal is achieved by venting directly into the atmosphere, representing an opportunity cost. We developed an algae-based process to integrate the treatment of these diverse waste materials. Our solution will yield valuable algae byproducts, enabling lower costs for treatment services.
